This charming polymer lady standing on a square glass base, a bird in a nest built on a branch at her feet, and holding a small basket evokes a storytelling mood. Her golden locks are made of mohair and it is a real stick at her feet. Colorful and reminiscent of a gypsy life it is sure to please any collector of folk art.

This oil vignette on wood depicts a Navajo girl out in the vastness of her native world with a band of sheep. A. Kelly Pruitt got his start as a painter painting on rainbow sandstone he found on the Boquillos Ranch (North Rim of the Grand Canyon) where he worked supporting his young family. He painted on sandstone and wood for his entire life, enriching those who loved him and the work, but found his large oil paintings beyond their means.

Some Must Say Farewell is a 12" x 24" oil painting on board, painted somewhere between 1995 and 2002. The idea that life, love and relationships are often ephemeral, is a recurring theme in A. Kelly Pruitt's work.  Kelly was a wanderer and a philospher in addition to being cowboy and an artist, a free spirit whose life touched many along the way. Giclee prints available.

After World War II Kelly lived among the Navajo for a time. His love for Native culture and the desert southwest was undying. Most of his work is set with the romantic, yet rugged tone of the bygone time and place.  "The Lost Horse", is so called because the young girl only has a bridle. Oil on panel and painted around 1998. Giclee prints available. Dimensions: 30" x 15"
