Sue (in the red top) spent her career as a teacher and an administrator for forty years in Bristol, TN and VA; thirty of those were as a math teacher at Virginia High School. After leaving education, Sue discovered she had an artistic side. Who knew, right?!?
Before switching on the right side of her brain and falling in love with art, she spent her free time running, reading, crafting, and traveling.
As a child, her summers were spent on her grandparents’ farm in Summers County, WV. Favorite memories of those happy times were made tagging along with her uncles as they milked cows, gathered eggs, fed the chickens and pigs, plowed fields, picked berries and vegetables, baled hay, and all those outdoorsy chores in a farmer’s daily routine. So is it any wonder that her favorite subjects to paint are animals – sometimes realistic, sometimes fantastical?
Recently, she discovered the art of needle felting and loves to create little needle-felted wool animals.
Crafting and making jewelry has been a love for years. Now she incorporates her love of art into handmade acrylic and resin jewelry and needle-felted pendants.
She lives in Bristol, TN, with her husband Gregg and her girls (other folks call them cats). She and the other half of the duo, “Two Art Chicks”, Doris Peters, are always ready to try new techniques or new media. She's the one on the left.
